Nelson Netball Centre | Our new look
Launched in April 2023, our NEW Nelson Netball Centre logo represents tūhononga (connection).
Starting with the visual form of a fingerprint, to acknowledge the individuals that make up our community and the value that each person brings to Nelson Netball Centre. “He tangata, He tangata, He tangata” – it is the people, it is the people, it is the people.
This design celebrates our collective connection to Whakatū (Nelson) – symbolising the earth, sea and sky which our region is so cherished by locals and visitors alike, and which we have a responsibility to the practice of kaitiakitanga (guardianship and protection of the environment & people). As well as protecting our environment and people, we are dedicated to protecting netball and the true nature of the sports spirit.
And at the very heart of our logo, and our centre, is our commitment to celebrating the love of netball – the koru symbolising perpetual motion, and new beginnings. This represents the beginning of each new game and season, and celebrates the joy of movement found within the game of netball. It marks our commitment to create an inclusive centre, which celebrates diversity within Aotearoa.
We acknowledge the contribution and meaning that each previous logo has had to our members throughout Nelson Netball Centre’s history. We are proud that this logo reflects the new direction of the centre and aligns with celebrating our 90th anniversary of netball in Nelson this year. You can view Nelson Netball Centre’s Strategic Plan on our website, which details the centre’s values and pillars (Grow, Game, Prosper, Leadership).
Ngā mihi nui (thank you) to all involved with the creation of this logo, we hope you feel the aroha (love) and support of our community whenever you wear or see this design.
